Hickory kicked off its â€śdrive for fiveâ€ť on Tuesday with an impressive 63-39 victory against Bunker Hill in the second game of the boys bracket at the Catawba Valley Classic.
The Red Tornadoes meet the winner of Newton-Conover and St. Stephens tonight at 9 p.m., with the winner heading to Thursdayâ€™s boys championship game.
The results from the Newton-Conover versus St. Stephens game were not available as of press time.

The Lady Red Tornadoes advanced to the Catawba Valley Classic second round with a convincing win against the Lady Bears.
Aja Hoyle led Hickory with a game-high 16, while a quartet of Lady Red Tornadoes â€” including Jamie Bowers, Erika Troutman, Rochelle Gaither and Hannah Young â€” scored eight points apiece.
The duo of Hannah Huffman and Wilbelis Rojas led Bunker Hill. Huffman scored eight points, while Rojas added five points.
South Caldwell 61, Maiden 28
Anna Lee Bollinger scored 14 points, while Taylor Cannon added 14 points, leading the Lady Spartans to the second round of the Catawba Valley Classic.
Sabrien Gaither led Maiden with 13 points. Teammate Christina Helms added eight points.
Alexander Central 50, St. Stephens 32
Madi Suddreth scored 15 points, leading the Lady Cougars to the second round of the CV Classic, where they will face Newton-Conover.
Kelsie Rhyne added 10 points in the AC victory.
St. Stephens plays Fred T. Foard in consolation action.
The Lady Indians were led by Virginia McMahan, who scored 10 points. Victoria Lavelle scored eight points.View more articles in:
