Red Devils sweep Bears on the basketball court

Newton-Conover took an early lead and pulled away from Bunker Hill for a 66-50 CVAC win.

Kevin Halloway led the Red Devils (8-6, 3-1) with 14 points.
Taylor Simmons netted a team-high 14 points for the Bears (2-13, 2-3).

Girls basketball

Newton-Conover 83, Bunker Hill 18

Kadesha Gibbs, Taylor Petty and Shynese Whitener combined for 56 points to lead the Lady Red Devils (11-3, 3-1) to the win against the Lady Bears.
Gibbs also notched her 1,000th career point in Friday’s game.

Brooke Blevins led Bunker Hill (0-14, 0-5) with nine points, while Montana Lineberger, Hannah Huffman, Anna Williams and Wilbelis Rojas added two points each.
