NEWTON — The Fred T. Foard soccer team's dream season continued on Saturday.

The Northwestern 3A/4A champion Tigers (19-5-3) advanced to the 3A West finals with a 3-1 home victory against Weddington in the fourth round of the playoffs.

The Warriors, who knocked off St. Stephens to earn the right to play Foard, finish their season with a 17-8 record.

Logan Winstead, Zach Durham and Wyatt Shely led the Tigers in the contest with a goal apiece.

The scores by Shely and Durham were their team-leading fifth each of the playoffs.

Foard will travel to Waxhaw to face Marvin Ridge (19-1-1) on Tuesday with a chance to go to the 3A state championship game.
