All four remaining Catawba County baseball teams were eliminated on Tuesday after the second round of play in the 2A and 3A playoffs.
Hickory and Bunker Hill both lost tough one-run games, 4-3.
The Red Tornadoes (19-8) dropped a road tilt to Asheville (9-15-1), while the Bears fell to East Rutherford in 10 innings.
Maiden (19-9) fell to Cuthbertson (25-3), 6-3, while Bandys (17-8) was eliminated by Wilkes Central (25-3), 12-2.
Two teams alive in softball playoffs
Fred T. Foard and St. Stephens both advanced to the third round of the playoffs with tight victories.
St. Stephens (20-7) slid past Enka on the road, 3-2. Fred T. Foard (21-4) scored two runs in the sixth inning to earn a 2-0 win against Crest.
Bandys fell 2-1 against West Lincoln (13-9), ending the Lady Trojans' season at 18-6 overall.
Red Devils third at 2A golf championships
Newton-Conover finished third at the 2A golf championships at Longleaf Golf and Country Club at Southern Pines.
Four county golfers finished inside the top 11, including Bunker Hill's Tyler Lail, Maiden's Thomas Lilly and Newton-Conover's Alex Hefner and Lee Mitchell.

Carpenter ties for 27th at 3A golf championships
Fred T. Foard golfer Christian Carpenter finished in a tie for 27th at the 3A golf championships, which were held at Foxfire Golf and Country Club at Foxfire Village.
Carpenter was the lone 3A golfer from Catawba County competing at the match.
