Prep softball

Maiden 10, South Iredell 0 (six innings)

After waiting over an hour for a lightning delay with four innings played, the Lady Blue Devils added six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead them to a 10-0 conference victory against the Lady Vikings.

Maiden's Hannah Callahan tossed a six-hitter, allowing one walk and striking out five batters.

Lindsey Schronce led Maiden (8-1, 3-0) offensively with a 3-for-4 performance from the plate, including two doubles. Christian Childers also went 2-for-3 for the Lady Blue Devils.

Prep baseball

St. Stephens 3, Fred T. Foard 0

Greg Lucas allowed one hit on the mound and also drove in an RBI to lead the Indians to the Northwestern 3A/4A victory against the Tigers.

Lucas pitched a complete seven innings, striking out nine Foard batters.

Dylan Beiland also drove in a run for St. Stephens.

Jordan Fulbright suffered the loss, giving up four hits and two runs.

South Iredell 8, Maiden 4

South Iredell scored four runs in the first inning, including a two-run single by Kane Sutten, propelling the Vikings to the conference win.

Maiden plated two late runs in the sixth and seventh innings each, but couldn't complete the comeback.

Colby Dishmond earned the victory for South Iredell, while Maiden's Aaron Rudisill suffered the loss .
