PREP NOTEBOOK: Trojans roll to 17th victory

Bandys 77, Draughn 51

Chelsey Queen scored a career-high 21 points and dished out six assists, leading the Lady Trojans to their 17th straight win of the season.

Madi Story added 20 points, five assists and six steals for Bandys (17-0, 8-0).

Lauren Duckworth led Draughn (10-8, 3-5) with 19 points.

East Burke 76, Bunker Hill 37

The Lady Cavaliers picked up a conference victory against the Lady Bears on Friday.

Lauren Arney and Bailey Gragg each scored 15 points apiece, while Sydney Hicks added 11 points in the East Burke (12-6, 5-3) win.

Wilbelis Rojas led Bunker Hill (0-17, 0-8) with 11 points.

Fred T. Foard 55, Watauga 37

Brooke Robinson scored a game-high 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds and assisted six times, leading the Lady Tigers (10-8, 3-4) to the Northwestern 3A/4A victory.

Chelsea Turner added 11 points, while Kayla Whitworth and Hannah Skeen chipped in 10 points each.

Foard shot 57 percent from the field in the game.

Alexander Central 73, St. Stephens 31

The Lady Cougars (14-4, 6-1) kept pace with Hickory atop the Northwestern conference with an impressive victory against the Lady Indians (3-15, 0-7) on Friday.

Madi Suddreth scored 17 points, Kelsie Rhyne scored 14 points and Marah Cockerell added 12 points for Alexander Central.

Briana Thornburg led St. Stephens with 12 points.

Boys basketball

Draughn 71, Bandys 51

Behind 16 points from Prescott Pinnix, the Wildcats notched their 11th victory of the season against the Trojans on Friday.

Dustin Bryant and Adam Manns added 12 points for Draughn (11-7, 6-2).

Hayden Deal scored 14 points to lead Bandys (1-16, 0-8).

East Burke 71, Bunker Hill 51

Trevor Hyatt scored 28 points and Clay Byrd added 21 points to lift the Cavaliers (13-5, 7-1) past the Bears.

Colton Chapman and Jordan McGinnis both scored 10 points to lead Bunker Hill (3-14, 3-5).

Watauga 51, Fred T. Foard 44

The Tigers dropped to 1-6 in conference play with a loss to the Pioneers on Friday.

Tyler Sturgill scored 14 points to lead Watauga (7-9, 3-3), while Ben Margolis added 10 points.

Brice Falgout netted a game-high 16 points for Foard (11-7, 1-6), while Jordan Turner chipped in 12 points.

Alexander Central 51, St. Stephens 40

The Indians lost a match-up of heavyweights in the Northwestern 3A/4A, falling to the Cougars.

Nathan Birkedal and Tyler Crouch each scored 14 points to pace Alexander Central (13-5, 6-1).

Chris Hefner and Dillion Spencer guided St. Stephens (12-7, 4-3) with eight points each.
