PREP NOTEBOOK: Trojans improve to 12-0 on season

Girls basketball

Bandys 56, West Caldwell 49

Madi Story scored 24 points and Taylor Sigmon added 15 points, leading the Lady Trojans (12-0, 3-0) to their 12th straight win to start this season.

Brittany Dixon scored 23 points for West Caldwell (4-5, 2-1), while Molly Steptoe added 12 points.

Draughn 67, Bunker Hill 42

Margaret Connor and Wilbelis Rojas each poured in 12 points, but it wasn't enough to help the Bears win on Tuesday.

Three Draughn players, including Lauren Duckworth, Haley Broadwell and Heather Copeland combined for 45 of the Lady Wildcats' 67 points.

Boys basketball

Draughn 54, Bunker Hill 44

The Wildcats (7-6, 2-1) got 18 points from Adam Manns, lifting them to the victory against the Bears (1-11, 1-2).

Jordan McGinnis led Bunker Hill with 14 points, while Colton Chapman added eight points.

Maiden 63, South Iredell 46

Matt Johnson scored 27 points and Jalen Gibbs added 17 points to give the Blue Devils their first conference victory of the season against the Vikings.

Maiden (4-6, 1-2) pulled out to a 20-7 lead in the first quarter, which helped them stay ahead the entire game.

Ray Ray Smith led South Iredell (2-10, 0-3) with 28 points.

South Caldwell 54, Fred T. Foard 46

The Tigers dropped just their fourth game of the season, falling at home to the Spartans (6-6, 1-2).

Leading Foard (10-4, 0-3) were Jordan Turner with 15 points and Brice Falgout with nine points.

Aaron Wingate scored 12 points for South Caldwell, while Matt Hodge added 11 points.
