PREP NOTEBOOK: Trojans beat Mustangs, advance

May 9, 2012

A goal by Ceana Aguirre in the 60th minute on an assist by Cassidy Winchester was the difference maker, giving the Bandys soccer team a one-goal victory in the first round of the 2A soccer playoffs.

The Lady Trojans' Chandler Griffith pocketed the first goal in the game in the 32nd minute on an assist from Katie Spaulding.

After trailing 1-0 at the half, the Lady Mustangs tied the contest in the 56th minute with an unassisted goal by Devan Youmans.

Aguirre's goal in the 60th minute, though, and a defensive stand allowed Bandys to advance.

Maria Carinci picked up the victory in goal with five saves.

The Lady Trojans travel to Shelby on Saturday for a second-round game against the Lady Golden Lions. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
