PREP NOTEBOOK: Trojans' 8 goals blank Wildcats

The Bandys soccer team scored four goals in the first and second half each on their way to a 8-0 shutout victory over Draughn on Thursday.

Zach Beresford led the Trojans (3-4, 2-0) with three goals and two assists.

Armando Rivera, Kenny Ryan, Kyle Enyeart, Ben Howden and Morrissey Muniz added goals in the victory.

Stephen Simmons, Howden and Rivera also tallied assists in the victory.

Thomas Simmons recorded the shut out in goal for Bandys.

Bunker Hill 4, East Burke 2

The Bears scored the home soccer win against the Cavaliers on Thursday.

Richard Xiong led Bunker Hill (3-3-1, 1-1-0) with two goals, while Luis Chavez and Joel Hernandez added a goal each.

Keeper Omar Chavez made five saves in goal for the Bears.

Bunker Hill 3, East Burke 2

The Lady Bears picked up their second big conference win in a row, knocking off the Lady Cavaliers 25-27, 25-23, 25-19, 23-25 and 15-12.

Megan Fair led Bunker Hill (4-9, 3-3) with 24 kills and six blocks. Chyenne Pump and Chelsey Lamm added 15 kills each.

Krissy Helms also tallied 28 assists for the Lady Bears.

East Burke falls to 6-6 overall and 1-5 in the CVAC.

Maiden 3, Newton-Conover 0

McKenzie Garrison tallied 22 kills, helping the Lady Blue Devils stay near the top of the CVAC standings with a victory over the rival Red Devils 32-30, 25-17 and 25-21.

Rachel Houston added 15 kills and four blocks for Maiden (9-3, 5-1). Kha Khang tallied 10 kills, as well.

Newton-Conover falls to 3-6 overall, including a 2-4 rank in the Catawba Valley 2A.

Fred T. Foard 3, Hibriten 0

The Lady Tigers continue to remain toward the top of the Northwestern 3A/4A standings with a victory Thursday against the Lady Panthers 25-17, 25-6 and 25-11.

Emily Simpson led Foard (9-4, 4-1) with eight kills. Rebecca Scott added 19 assists and seven service aces.

Bandys 3, Draughn 2

The Lady Trojans survived a grueling five-set match with the Lady Wildcats on Thursday to come away victorious 26-24, 24-26, 21-25, 25-20 and 15-7.

Kayla Champion led Bandys (6-5, 5-1) with 25 kills, 20 digs, nine aces, six blocks and six assists.

Other stat leaders for the Lady Trojans included Sierra Brotherton with 13 blocks, Gaosee Vang with 46 assists, Natalie Bolick with 37 digs.

Draughn falls to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the CVAC.
