PREP NOTEBOOK: Tigers top Cougars in soccer

Bouncing back from its first loss of the season, the Fred T. Foard soccer team picked up a 4-0 conference victory against Alexander Central.

The shutout by the Tigers (10-1, 1-1) was their eighth in 11 games this season and fifth on the road.

Scoring goals for Foard were Scottie Whitman, Kenan Ruffner, Ryan Stasiak and Daniel Tomberlin.

Spencer Matthews, Mario Carrillo and Whitman all picked up assists in the victory.

St. Stephens 6, South Caldwell 1

Andrew Barton and Tommy Vo each pocketed a pair of goals to lead the Indians boys soccer team to its second Northwestern 3A/4A victory of the season.

Nich Bryant and Rafael Sauceda also scored goals for Saint (7-4, 2-0), while Luke Bruce, Osvaldo Cruz, Bryant and Vo each had an assist.
