PREP NOTEBOOK: Lady Trojans win their first match

Bandys won its first volleyball game of the season on Wednesday, topping Lincolnton in three-straight sets, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-12.

Sierra Brotherton led the Lady Trojans (1-2) with six aces, seven kills and 14 blocks. Amber Krenson added five aces, five kills and two blocks.

Kayla Champion led Bandys in digs with 13, while Gaosee Vang recorded a team-high 17 assists.

Bunker Hill 3, North Lincoln 0

The Lady Bears earned its first volleyball victory of the season, beating the Lady Knights in three sets on Wednesday, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-22.

Chyenne Pump led Bunker Hill (1-4) with 10 kills, Brooke Blevins tallied 17 digs, Cristy Thao recorded 11 digs and Krissy Helms assisted on 25 Bunker Hill kills.

The Lady Bears travel to South Caldwell on Thursday before hosting St. Stephens on Monday.

Newton-Conover 2, Shelby 1

Kyle Thorpe connected on a 45-yard goal 14 minutes through the second half, enabling the Red Devils to pick up the road non-conference victory over the Golden Lions.

Newton-Conover (2-1-1) trailed 1-0 at halftime after a Phillip Richards goal for Shelby (2-1-0).

Chandler Johnson scored the Red Devils' first goal in the seventh minute of the second half on a penalty kick.

East Lincoln 3, Bandys 2

The Trojans fell in Denver to the Mustangs (1-3-0) in a non-conference game on Wednesday.

Armando Rivera led Bandys (1-2-0) with a pair of goals.
