PREP NOTEBOOK: Lady Tigers top Indians

Brooke Robinson scored 18 and Chelsea Turner added 15 points, leading Fred T. Foard to its second conference win of the season against St. Stephens on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers (9-7, 2-3) led 22-11 at the half and outscored St. Stephens 32-20 in the second half.

Keyona Hicks led the Lady Indians (3-12, 0-4) with 12 points.

Bandys 63, South Iredell 36

The Lady Trojans continued their impressive roll this season with their 15th win of the season against the Lady Vikings.

Madi Story scored 22 points and had seven assists, while Taylor Sigmon added 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Bandys (15-0, 6-0).

Aaliyah Jackson led South Iredell (8-6, 2-3) with 16 points.

Newton-Conover 71, Draughn 44

Kadesha Gibbs scored 18 points, while Shynese Whitener added 14 points to lead the Lady Red Devils (12-3, 4-1) to the Catawba Valley 2A victory against the Lady Wildcats.

Lauren Duckworth scored a team-high 14 points for Draughn (9-6, 2-3), while Haley Broadwell added 13 points.

East Burke 61, Maiden 34

Outscoring the Lady Blue Devils 26-11 in the first half, the Lady Cavaliers kept up the pace to down Maiden on the road Tuesday.

Bailey Gragg led East Burke (11-4, 4-1) with 15 points, while Sydney Haas added 10 points.

Taylor Coulter scored a team-high 11 points for Maiden (6-9, 0-5).

Boys basketball

West Caldwell 56, Bunker Hill 35

The Warriors picked up their seventh victory of the season against the Bears on the road Tuesday.

Chris Michaux and Mekhi Dula each scored 18 points for West Caldwell (7-4, 5-0).

Jordan Eckard led Bunker Hill (2-14, 2-4) with 14 points, while Jason Setzer added 10 points.

East Burke 71, Maiden 49

Clay Byrd and Trevor Hyatt combined for 56 points — 28 points from each player, leading the Cavaliers to the CVAC win against the Blue Devils.

Jason Gantt netted 15 points for Maiden, who falls to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in CVAC play.
