PREP NOTEBOOK: Lady Indians improve to 6-0

The St. Stephens volleyball team improved to 6-0 on the season with a sweep Monday over the Lady Bears 25-23, 25-15 and 25-15.

Marisa Jones led the Lady Indians with nine kills, Breanna Hall added seven kills and Jenna Boliek tallied six kills.

Megan Fair led Bunker Hill (1-6) with 10 kills, Krissy Helms tallied 18 assists and Brooke Blevins recorded 23 digs.

St. Stephens 7, East Rowan 1

Nich Bryant netted two goals, while Tommy Vo, Andrew Bare, Andrew Bartson, Chris Hunt and Edgar Sanchez each scored one to lead the Indians to the non-conference victory.

Bryant also recorded three assists for St. Stephens (3-3). Vo had two assists, while Osvaldo Cruz and Bare tallied one assist each.

Fred T. Foard 2, Statesville 1

The Tigers remained undefeated on the year by defeating the sixth-ranked 3A team in the state in the Greyhounds on Monday in Statesville.

Daniel Tomberlin scored the game-winning goal for Foard (6-0) on an assist from Kenan Ruffner.

Jordan Turner also scored an unassisted goal in the contest for the Tigers.

Hibriten 4, Bunker Hill 0

The Bears were shut out at home against the Panthers.

Goalie Omar Chavez recorded six saves to lead Bunker Hill (1-1-1).
