St. Stephens picked up a Northwestern 3A/4A victory in boys basketball against Watauga on Tuesday, but the win didn't come easy.

The Indians survived an eight-overtime with the Pioneers to come away victorious, 103-98, in Boone.

The state and national record for overtimes in a high school boys basketball game is 13, set back on Feb. 29, 1964 between Mamers Boone Trail and Angier. Boone Trail won that lengthy contest, 56-54.
