PREP NOTEBOOK: Indians avenge loss to Pioneers

The St. Stephens volleyball team avenged a loss earlier this season with a victory against Watauga on Tuesday 25-23, 22-25, 27-25 and 25-21.

The win by the Lady Indians ties them atop the Northwestern 3A/4A with the Lady Pioneers (11-5, 6-1).

Jenna Boliek led Saint (15-1, 7-1) with 14 kills and 12 digs. Breanna Hall added 12 kills and three blocks, while Marisa Jones had six kills.

Maiden 3, Bunker Hill 0

The Lady Blue Devils continue their strong play in the Catawba Valley 2A with a straight-sets victory over the Lady Bears on Tuesday 25-9, 25-13 and 25-11.

Mckenzie Garrison led Maiden (12-3, 8-1) with 14 kills. Rachel Houston added 10 kills and 6 blocks, Hannah Martin made 15 assists and Kalie Johnson made 18 assists.

Bunker Hill falls to 5-12 overall and 4-5 in the CVAC.

Fred T. Foard 3, Hickory 1

The Lady Tigers fought off the rival Lady Red Tornadoes with a four-set victory in conference play on Tuesday 25-12, 25-21, 17-25 and 25-22.

Madison Hayes led Foard (14-5, 5-2) with seven kills and two aces, while Morgan Smith added six kills, 10 digs and four aces.

South Iredell 3, Newton-Conover 1

The Lady Vikings continued to stay in sole possession of the Catawba Valley 2A with a four-set win over the Lady Red Devils on Tuesday 25-16, 25-23, 20-25 and 28-26.

Newton-Conover falls to 4-12 overall and 3-6 in the CVAC.

East Burke 3, Bandys 0

The Lady Trojans dropped their third-straight conference match Tuesday to the Lady Cavaliers 25-13, 25-22 and 25-21.

Kayla Champion led Bandys (6-9, 5-4) with 13 kills, four aces and nine digs, while Alexis Barr added six blocks, nine kills and four digs.

Bunker Hill 4, Maiden 1

The Bears notched their second conference win of the season Tuesday against the Blue Devils.

Richard Xiong led Bunker Hill (4-4-1, 2-2-0) with two goals, while Joel Henandez and Javiar Chavez each pocketed a goal.

Maiden falls to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the Catawba Valley 2A.

Bandys 6, East Burke 3

The Trojans picked up a road conference win Tuesday against the Cavaliers.

Zach Beresford and Armando Rivera led Bandys (4-6, 3-2) with two goals each, while Ben Howden and Kenny Ryan added a goal each for the Trojans.

East Burke falls to 4-5-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the CVAC.
