PREP NOTEBOOK: Greyhounds topple Tornadoes

The Hickory boys basketball team suffered its second setback of the season on Thursday, falling on the road against Statesville, 90-78.

Jaquan Warren led the Greyhounds (3-1) with 22 points, while Justin Daniels added 17 points.

Raheim Connelly scored 18 points to lead Hickory (4-2).

Girls basketball

Hickory 77, Statesville 29

The Lady Red Tornadoes moved to 6-0 with a 48-point victory Thursday in Statesville.

Yazmin Hannah paced Hickory with a game-high 23 points, while Danasia Witherspoon added 17 points.

Erykah Gibbs scored a team-high eight points to lead the Lady Greyhounds (0-4).
