PREP NOTEBOOK: Bears top Challenger on court

The Bunker Hill tennis team earned its first victory against Challenger on Wednesday, 6-3.

The Bears (1-3) picked up four singles victories and two doubles victories on their way to the match win.

Prep softball

Maiden 14, Lincolnton 0

For the second time on the diamond this season, the Lady Blue Devils (5-0) earned a 10-run or more win against the Lady Wolves.

Emily Crouse pitched a complete game for Maiden, allowing two hits, one walk and striking out nine batters.

Lindsey Schronce went 3-for-3 from the plate, including a single, double and home run. Mollie Sigmon and Christina Childers also went 3-for-3, while Jessica Cooper and Caroline Ward each hit a double.

Maiden defeated Lincolnton 11-0 on February 29.

Fred T. Foard 9, Patton 2

Adding to her eight RBI game the day prior, Ashley Oliver drove in four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the second inning, to lift the Lady Tigers to the victory.

Oliver had three hits in the game. Mackenzie Dziendziel also had three hits (all singles), including an RBI.

On the mound, Lexi Shubert pitched seven innings, allowing three hits, two unearned runs and struck out nine Patton batters.
