PREP NOTEBOOK: Bears improve to 2-1 in CVAC

The Bunker Hill tennis team improved to 2-1 in the Catawba Valley 2A with a 7-2 victory over South Iredell on Tuesday.

The Bears (2-6, 2-1) won four singles matches, but swept all of their doubles competition to pick up the conference win.

Prep volleyball

South Iredell 3, Bunker Hill 0

The Lady Bears fell to the Lady Vikings in Claremont on Tuesday in three-straight sets 25-17, 25-19 and 25-19.

Bunker Hill (1-7, 0-1) travels to Maiden on Thursday.

Maiden 3, West Caldwell 0

The Lady Blue Devils won their conference opener over the Lady Warriors in straight sets 25-9, 25-8 and 25-7.

Mckenzie Garrison led Maiden (5-2, 1-0) with 10 kills, Rachel Houston tallied 9 kills and Kha Xiong had 7 killls.

Hannah Martin recorded 12 assists on Blue Devils kills, while Kalie Johnson assisted on 17 kills.

Fred T. Foard 3, North Gaston 0

The Lady Tigers won their sixth match of the season, ousting the Lady Wildcats in three 25-16, 25-8 and 25-21.

Madison Hayes led Foard (6-1) with 10 kills, while Rebecca Scott tallied 25 assists.

Defensively, Chelsea Hoyle blocked three shots, while Kaitlin Sigmon recorded 20 digs.
