PREP NOTEBOOK: Bandys stays perfect on court

The Bandys tennis team improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Catawba Valley 2A with a dominant 9-0 victory over South Iredell on Thursday.

Cassidy Shell, the Lady Trojans No. 1 player, led her team with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in singles competition and also teamed with Halie Moore to pick up a 8-0 doubles win.

Prep volleyball

Fred T. Foard 3, Lincolnton 0

The Lady Tigers swept the Lady Wolves on the volleyball court Thursday, 25-9, 25-12 and 25-12.

Morgan Smith led Foard (4-1) with 11 kills. Rebecca Scott tallied 21 assists and five service aces. Emily Simpson and Zoe Fox recorded four aces apiece.

As a team, the Lady Tigers recorded 14 aces and had a 97.3 serving percentage.

North Lincoln 3, Bandys 0

The Lady Knights picked up a three-set victory over the Lady Trojans on Thursday, 25-18, 27-25 and 25-18.

Kayla Champion led Bandys (1-4) with six kills, four aces, 16 digs and four blocks. Hunter Whalen added five kills, five blocks and seven digs.

St. Stephens 3, Maiden 2

The Lady Indians beat the Lady Blue Devils in Hickory on Thursday in five sets, 25-11, 25-20, 21-25, 14-25 and 15-10.

Breanna Hall led St. Stephens (5-0) with 15 kills, Jenna Boliek added 12 kills and 17 digs and Marisa Jones recorded 11 kills.

Saint's Katelyn Houser tallied 25 assist and 18 digs, while Bailey Cloninger added 21 assist. Defensively, Ashley Markland had 22 digs.

Mckenzie Garrison led Maiden (4-2) with 14 kills. Rachel Houston added eight kills and six blocks. Kalie Johnson led the Lady Blue Devils with 13 assists, while Hannah Martin added eight assists.

South Caldwell 3, Bunker Hill 0

The Lady Spartans earned a home shutout victory over the Lady Bears, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-22.
