PREP NOTEBOOK: Bandys girls bounce back

Madi Story scored 17 points and Brittany Moss added 15 points, lifting the Bandys girls basketball team to the bounce-back victory against West Caldwell.

Story also collected eight rebounds for the Lady Trojans (18-1, 9-1), along with teammate Taylor Sigmon.

Ravin Carter led West Caldwell (7-8, 5-4) with 20 points, while Brittany Dixon chipped in 17 points.

Hibriten 50, St. Stephens

Keisha Corpening scored 37 points to lift the Lady Panthers (5-11, 2-6) to the Northwestern Conference win against the Lady Indians (3-17, 0-8).

Keyona Hicks scored 17 points for St. Stephens, while Jodi Kerley added 10 points.

Newton-Conover 51, East Burke 46

Taylor Petty connected on six three-points, lifting the Lady Red Devils to the CVAC victory against the Lady Cavaliers.

Petty scored 22 points in the game, while Shynese Whitener chipped in 11 points for Newton-Conover (17-3, 9-1).

Bailey Gragg led East Burke (13-7, 6-4) with 12 points and Sydney Hicks scored 11 points.

Boys basketball

West Caldwell 73, Bandys 41

The Warriors improves to 10-0 in conference and 12-4 overall with a win over the Trojans in Catawba.

Kalice Steptoe scored a game-high 13 points for the Warriors.

Colton Medlin scored eight points to lead Bandys, while Dominique Young pitched in seven points.

Newton-Conover 65, East Burke

Behind 14 points from Shane Laws and Josh Ramseur, the Red Devils (12-8, 7-3) delivered the Cavaliers their second loss of the season in conference play.

Joshuwell McCombs and Kevin Cline chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the N-C victory.

Trevor Hyatt scored a game-high 23 points for East Burke (14-6, 8-2).

St. Stephens 54, Hibriten 35

The Indians (13-8, 5-4) received 12 points from Kerigan Fairley to lift them to the Northwestern Conference victory against the Panthers.

Maiden 60, South Iredell 49

Jalen Gibbs scored 23 points and Jason Gantt added 10 points, lifting the Blue Devils to their third win in conference play against the Vikings.

Colby Hall scored 12 points to lead South Iredell (3-16, 1-9), while Nate Dixon added 11 points.
