All seven of Catawba County's prep football teams officially open practice on Thursday.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association designates Thursday as the first official tryouts and/or practice for all fall sports teams, including football, cross-country, volleyball, girl's golf and boy's soccer.

Below are the football practice times for each high school:

Bandys, 9 a.m.
Bunker Hill, 6 p.m.
Fred T. Foard, 5:30 p.m.
Hickory, 6 p.m.
Maiden, 9 am.
Newton-Conover, 3:30 p.m.
St. Stephens, 6 p.m.

The next important date for all of these teams is Aug. 10, which is the first day high schools can compete in their first football scrimmages.
