Prep football team scrimmages start on Saturday

All seven of Catawba County’s football teams are in scrimmage action in the coming week.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) officially designates Aug. 10 as the first day that teams can hold their first scrimmages.

Each of the seven Catawba County squads is participating in two scrimmages from Aug. 10-16. The prep football regular season officially starts on Friday, Aug. 23

Here is a list of the prep football scrimmages across Catawba County:

Saturday, Aug. 10
Bunker Hill at Pisgah, 6 p.m.
Maiden at Lincoln Co. Jamboree, 6 p.m.
Newton-Conover vs. Chesnee, S.C. at Chesnee or Boiling Springs, S.C., 8 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 12
Bandys, S. Iredell at South Point, 6 p.m.
Hickory at W. Rowan, 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 13
Forestview at Newton-Conover, 6 p.m.
Fred T. Foard at Alexander Central, 6 p.m.
Maiden at Hibriten, 6 p.m.
St. Stephens at Patton, 6 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 16
Bandys at Burke Co. Jamboree, 9 p.m.
Bunker Hill at East Surry
Charlotte Olympic at Maiden, 6 p.m.
Fred T. Foard at Burke Co. Jamboree, 7 p.m.
Hickory at Cleveland Co. Jamboree
Newton-Conover at West Iredell, 6 p.m.
St. Stephens at W. Iredell, 8 p.m.
