To replace any area coaching legend, St. Stephens High School decided to hire from within its basketball family.
Murphy Post, a four-year member of the teaching faculty and coaching staff at the school, was named the new boysâ basketball coach. He replaces Gary Bowne, who retired last week from coaching and teaching.
Post has served as the junior varsity head coach for the program and an assistant under Bowne for the varsity program.
âMurphyÂ exudesÂ a contagious enthusiasm andÂ youthful exuberanceÂ for the game of basketball, while incorporating an excellent rapport with his players,â said Dennis Whitener, assistant principal and athletic director. âHe is an excellent classroom teacher and will be a very successful high school basketball coach.
