Post 48's playoff game moved for fourth-straight day

July 6, 2013

Field conditions once again postponed Hickory Post 48's first round playoff series against Kings Mountain Post 155.

The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday at Henkel-Alley Field, but rains during the past couple of days dampened the field beyond safe playing condition.

Hickory (14-7, 10-6) and Kings Mountain (8-9, 8-7) will play a doubleheader at Kings Mountain on Sunday starting at 3 p.m.

Both games will be seven innings.

Another doubleheader of two seven-inning games is scheduled for Monday at Henkel-Alley Field at 5 p.m.

Should either team win the first three games of the best-of-five series, the second game of Monday's doubleheader will not be played.

A fifth game, if necessary, will take place on Tuesday at Henkel-Alley Field at 7 p.m. in a normal nine-inning game.

Below is an updated look at the playoff schedule:

Area IV playoffs (first round, best-of-five)
Game one: Hickory (14-7, 10-6) at Kings Mountain (8-9, 8-7), 3 p.m. Sunday (seven inn.)
Game two: Hickory at Kings Mountain, Sunday following game one (seven inn.)
Game three: Kings Mountain at Hickory, Monday at 5 p.m. (seven inn.)
Game four: Kings Mountain at Hickory, Monday after game three (seven inn., if necessary)
Game five: Kings Mountain at Hickory, Tuesday at 7 p.m. (if necessary, nine inn.)
