Post 48 picks up 10th West Division win over Shelby

Hickory Post 48 continued its hot winning streak, picking up its 10th Area IV West Division victory of the season against Shelby Post 82 on the road Monday, 10-3.

The win against Shelby is Post 48's sixth straight, including four against West Division opponents.

Hickory pitcher Colton Allison improved to 3-0 on the mound this season, tossing a complete game. He allowed seven hits, two walks, hit one batter and struck out two others.

Tyler Pait led Post 48 (14-2, 10-1) on offense with three hits and scored three runs. Colton Chapman went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, as well, while Ky'Rawn Whitfield was 2-for-5 from the plate.

After trailing 2-0, Shelby (8-13, 4-6) tied the contest 2-2 in the third inning.

However, Post 48 scored a run in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good. They followed that with two more runs in the seventh and five in the eighth to pull away with the victory.

Post 48 is back in action on the road again today, taking on Caldwell County Post 29 (15-2, 8-2) in a pivotal West Division match-up. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
