Post 48 advances to round two, faces Gaston next

Hickory advanced to the second round of the Area IV playoffs on Tuesday with a 8-1 victory against Kings Mountain at Shelby High School, sweeping the series, 3-0.

Ben Watson threw a complete game on the mound for Hickory (17-7), allowing seven hits and three walks.
At the plate, Phillip Carroll went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Colton Chapman added three hits, including a home run, while Tyler Pait also drove in two runs.

Hickory advances to play the Gaston Braves in round two. The Braves swept Rutherford County in round one.

This is the fourth-straight year that Gaston and Hickory have met in the playoffs.
