Police seize drugs, guns in Claremont

September 10, 2011

Police busted a one-man drug and gun operation in Claremont on Thursday that yielded marijuana, cash and more than 100 jars of moonshine.

Authorities searched a Claremont home Thursday and found 295 grams of marijuana, 40 firearms, $13,000 in cash and more than 100 jars of moonshine.

Police also seized a liquor still from the residence at 7103 River Bend Road, said Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid.

Timothy Scott Fox, who lived at the residence, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling, possession with intent to sell non-tax paid alcohol, possession with intent to sell alcohol beverage without a permit and manufacturing liquor without a permit.

“We had a tip that drugs were being sold at the residence,” Reid said, adding that the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Newton Police Department performed the search.

Reid said the moonshine was turned over to the Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) agency.

Reid said there are no other suspects and more charges are pending.
