Police seek car thieves

December 12, 2011

Police are looking for thieves who stole a woman’s car outside Pinocchio’s Pizza in Claremont on Sunday night.

Claremont police say a man driving a 1996 Toyota Camry parked outside Pinocchio’s around 7 p.m. Sunday and went inside the restaurant, leaving the car unlocked and running.

When the man exited the restaurant minutes later, the vehicle was gone.

The car, which belongs to Monique Williams, 27, of Claremont, was located Monday afternoon on Swinging Bridge Road.

Suspects were seen running from the vehicle, and Claremont officers are working with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office to locate the individuals, said Pamela Shook of the Claremont Police Department.

Anyone with information on the motor vehicle larceny is asked to contact the Claremont Police Department at 828-459-9295.
