Pinwheels for Prevention raises abuse awareness

The Zahra Baker All Children’s Playground glistened with the reflections of 2,000 pinwheels for prevention on Wednesday afternoon.

The pinwheel represents childlike notions and stands for the chance at the healthy, happy and full lives all children deserve, according to the Prevent Child Abuse America organization.

The blue and silver pinwheels were planted by volunteers from the Target Distribution Center in Newton, and held a special meaning to Catawba County.
