A brief ceremony at Newton-Conover High School will be held Friday, May 10 for students to witness the dedication of a bronze plaque that looks back to one of the 20th century’s dramatic periods.

The 1:30 p.m. event will mark the second time the Newton-Conover Board of Education has commissioned a plaque to indicate a Great Depression-era work camp for young men from throughout the United States which provided them much-needed jobs.

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Little was constructed at a site which now is the location of the school’s west parking lot.
