Pedestrian hit

July 12, 2012

A woman was hit by a car as she tried to direct him into the bay of a garage Wednesday afternoon.

Newton Police Maj. Kevin Yarborough said the accident happened when James Fish, of Catawba, was pulling his 1997 Buick into a bay at the Speed Lube on East D Street just before 12:30  p.m.

"The girls was flagging him in, and the man must have pushed the gas instead of the brake," he said.

Speed Lube employee Dana Horton, of Newton, went up on to the hood of the vehicle before she was thrown to the ground behind the station, Yarborough said, adding she did not suffer life-threatenign injuries.
