Former Bandys High pitcher Hunter Harvey will make his debut tonight for the Single-A Aberdeen Ironbirds (Md.).

Harvey was promoted to the club on Monday from the Gulf Coast League Orioles.

"I'm really excited to help this team try and win a championship," Harvey said of the Ironbirds, who are currently 30-26 and leading the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League. "I heard about how good this team's being doing this year, so I'm real excited to come to Aberdeen and help this team."

With the GCL Orioles, Harvey was 0-0 in five starts with a 1.35 ERA.

He struck out 18 batters on the mound during the time, including eight in his third outing against the GCL Red Sox on Aug. 1.

"We're all very excited to have Hunter Harvey join our ball club," said IronBirds manager Matt Merullo. "He's a first round pick and a great talent, and it will be great to have a chance to see him and help our ball club."

Harvey's first start will take place tonight against the Hudson Valley Renedgades at 7:05 p.m.
