Many people say they missed Newton Police Department officer Evaleene Fowler for the nearly three months she was off the streets this year.

Fowler was walking across "A" Street on Friday, Jan. 13, when she was hit by a Mustang. She was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center with injuries to her left leg and hip.

She wore a brace for a while to heal her injuries, and she resumed walking Newton's streets April 10.
