Four months after Newton hiring someone to lead the planning department, the city is without a planning director.
Newton hired Christine Bartleson effective March 12, but after a three month review of the position, it is vacant again, said Newton City Manager Todd Clark. Bartleson replaced former planning director and assistant city manager Glenn Pattishall who was the first person to hold the position in Newton. He retired after more than 28 years of service to the city.
Now Clark said he is evaluating the position.

Just delegate the duties of planning to one of the already hired folks to do. Can't be too difficult to do! Quit wasting money!
