Newton traffic detour set during sewer work

November 15, 2011

Some drivers along a section of North College Avenue in Newton will be rerouted beginning this week as the city begins work on a sewer line project.

Work, which is expected to take about two and a half weeks, will affect North College Avenue between East 18th and East 20th streets, according to the city of Newton. Parts of roads in that area will be covered by heavy equipment and dirt piles.

Local traffic will be allowed in the area, but through traffic will be detoured from East 13th Street to East 20th Street.

Once the sewer project is completed, contractor Ronny Turner Construction Company will patch affected roadways and the roads will reopen to all traffic.

Anyone with questions about the detour or project may call 828-695-4298.
