Newton man charged in break-in

A southern Lincoln County homeowner arrived home around 1:10 p.m. Tuesday to find a car in his driveway and several males standing outside the vehicle.  The man called 9-1-1 and reported a crime in progress.

The men jumped back in the vehicle and fled the scene while another person inside the residence came out and stole the victim’s burgundy van.  Another person helped track the van as it traveled  on Gaston-Webbs Chapel Road then making its way onto Gastonia Highway.
