Newton-Conover sweeps Northeastern 3-0 to win 1st state title

The Red Devils impressively went up one-set-to-none behind a six kill performance in game one by Isabella Zilagiris. Corbin Evans added four points scored, including three kills and an ace.

Newton-Conover went up 7-1 early in the set and never looked back.

Prior to the set won, Northeastern had only dropped two sets all season, which came in their second round playoff victory against Cedar Ridge, 3-2.

N-C led early in the second game before Northeastern won 5-of-6 points to take a 12-10 lead. The Lady Red Devils take a timeout.

Holding off a Northeastern charge, N-C won seven of the final 10 points in the set to take a two-sets-to-one advantage.

Zaliagiris and Evans led the Red Devils with four kills in the game.

For the second-straight set, senior setter Mary Hinson served on the final point of the set.
