Newton-Conover coaching hire looms

Newton-Conover school leaders say they hope to hire a high school football coach this week.

Newton-Conover City Schools (NCCS) Superintendent Dr. Barry Redmond said he contacted school board members about the coaching hire Tuesday afternoon. Redmond said he requested a Thursday morning meeting for the school board to consider approval of hiring a Red Devils coach.

Newton-Conover High School Principal Kevin Campbell said the school plans to hold a press conference Thursday if the school board approves a coaching hire earlier in the day.
