Monday, Oct. 1 Barry Redmond met with the Catawba County Board of commissions to ask for budget changes. The changes would help to fund the new South Newton Elementary campus. The school was built in stages with the oldest building constructed in 1958 and the newest building was erected in 1993.
With the county board’s approval, Newton-Conover City Schools now has the money for the new school and announced a lot of changes within the school system.
