N-C coaching search nears end

May 7, 2012

Newton-Conover High School may have its next football coach by early next week.

NCHS Principal Kevin Campbell said Monday the school narrowed its list of candidates to a final name, and officials are nailing down final details with that candidate.

Campbell said those details include a "family matter," but there are no financial issues with contract negotiations.

Campbell said he and athletic director Billy Leeson will meet with the finalist Thursday to work out details and try to reach a final agreement before formally submitting a name for approval at a Newton-Conover City Schools board meeting May 14.
