2013 marks the 100th anniversary of the Catawba County Historical Association’s Historic Murray’s Mill.

On July 13, the CCHA and Historic Murray’s Mill are celebrating the accomplishments of the Murray family, who made Murray’s Mill a fixture of Catawba County for many years.

The celebration will include a barbeque lunch, cake, ice cream, live music, games and a rubber ducky race. As a special treat to visitors, the mill will be grinding corn into cornmeal just as it did in 1913. The festivities will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Information about the event is available by calling 828-465-0383 or visiting catawbahistory.org.

Proceeds from the event will support the preservation and operation of Murray’s Mill Historic District.
