Murder suspects captured

June 21, 2012

Two men face murder charges after a Wednesday night shooting that left one man dead and another seriously injured in the Vale area.

Calvin O'Bryan Fuller, 24 of Hickory and Quavis Shamar Propst, 22, of Vale, are charged with murder and attempted first-degree murder following a drive-by shooting on Hope Road, according to Catawba County Sheriff's Department Capt. Joel Fish.

The accused killers and victim, Aaron Ruff, 40, were acquaintances, Fish said,  adding the shooting was not random. Gerald Jeremiah Frederick, 29, was also shot in the neck during the attack, but Fish said his wounds are not life-threatening.

"The survivors gave us the name of the shooter immediately," Fish said.
