Mother arrested for child abuse

Newton Police Department arrested Twyla Gayle Stewart, 25, of 815 East First street, Newton, Saturday for misdemeanor child abuse.

According to Newton Police Department, the mother of three has a baby, a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old and has been a reoccurring problem in the neighborhood. Captain Tim Hayes said the two oldest children have ran away from home several times in the past.
