Mayfield gets court-appointed attorney

Maurice Centel Mayfield who has been charged with fatally shooting Billy Chad Dellinger appeared in District Court Monday to meet with his court-appointed attorney and to learn the date for his probable cause hearing.
 
Mayfield, 22, appeared before district court Judge J. Gary Dellinger, charged with first-degree murder.         Assistant capital defender, Victoria Jayne from the Regional Capital Defender office in Asheville, was appointed to defend Mayfield.

Mayfield’s probable-cause hearing date was set for Dec. 17.
