Manufacturers get new window to world

July 20, 2012

Manufacturing companies in Catawba County have a new portal to the world and potential customers around the planet are already taking notice.

As part of a partnership between economic development companies in the Greater Hickory and the N.C. State Industrial Extension Service, the "Manufactured in N.C." website has hit the Internet, and it is already reaping results.

According to Catawba County Economic Development Corp. Existing Industries Coordinator Nathan Huret, manufacturing companies in Catawba County and statewide can visit the website, and enter specific details about their company. The free service offers even the smallest companies to have a web presence, and in the 21st century marketplace, that's important.

"If you are looking to buy anything, you do comparison shopping, and the world is your market place from a consumer standpoint," he said. "Companies do the exact same thing, but if you don't have a website or a complete website, you are missing out on a lot of opportunities."
