Man arrested for sexual exploitation

On Monday, Oct. 22, Newton Police were notified of a possible Child Pornography incident that was discovered by a local business owner. 

A report was filed, and an investigation was initiated by the criminal investigations division of the Newton Police Department in conjunction with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.  The allegations involve the suspect, Chris Michael Proctor, 42, of Maiden, and his possession of child pornography.

As a result of the initial investigation, Proctor was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 24,  without incident. Proctor was charged with six counts of Third Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. He placed in the Catawba County Detention Center with a $75,000 secured bond. Proctor had a first appearance Wednesday, Oct. 24.
