Man arrested on sex charges

December 11, 2012

On Sunday, Dec. 9, the Newton Police Department served a Grand Jury Indictment on Dewey Roy Stennette, of 822 N. Davis Ave. Newton.

The investigations division of the Newton Police Department began investigating this case after family members of a juvenile victim came forward in December of 2011 to report their suspicions.  The victim was a family member of Stennette's and had reported happenings to parents, which led to the investigation. After a thorough investigation, information discovered led investigators to present the case to the Grand
Jury of Catawba County on Dec. 3.

“We wanted to make sure we had a rock solid case before presenting it to the Grand Jury,” Newton Police Department Capt. Tim Hayes said.
