Madi Story’s 31 paces Trojans past Bulldogs

Behind 31 points from CVAC player of the year Madi Story, Bandys advanced to the third round of the 2A playoffs with a 79-53 win against No. 5 Thomasville.

The Lady Trojans (26-2) shot 64 percent from the field (29-of-45) during Wednesday’s game. 

Guided by 16 points from Story in the first half, Bandys built an early lead, and the Trojans were ahead 40-24 at the half.

From there, the Trojans went on cruise control, scoring 39 points in the second half on their way to a victory and a third-round playoff appearance.

To go along with her game-high 31 points, Story also grabbed four steals.
Chelsey Queen added nine points and eight assists in the Bandys win, while Taylor Sigmon scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Alexis Lambert led Thomasville with 17 points, while Joslyn Spires added 15 points.

The fourth-seeded Lady Trojans meet No. 1 North Stanly on Friday in their first road playoff test.

The Comets (27-1) defeated Starmount (11-14) on Wednesday, 57-36.
