LR student drowns in Hickory, community shows support

"As you know Lenoir-Rhyne has experienced a tragedy this evening. A freshman student, Vince Njoku, drowned in Lake Hickory while at a swimming event with friends," read an email from the Lenoir-Rhyne University Dean of Students Katie Fisher. The email was sent out to the LR community at 9:24 p.m. Monday night, following a previous email about counseling services being provided on campus.

Njoku,19, was a freshman running back on the Bears' football team and a computer science major from Woodstock, Ga.
