Local student travels to China for medical work

After graduating from the North Carolina School of Science and Math this summer, Newton-native Max Lowman traveled with the China California Heart Watch for three weeks in July to do medical work in rural China.

The program combined his language education, two years of Mandarin Chinese, and his interest in medicine.

Lowman said became interested in medicine a few years ago after a doctor visit.

“I went in to get a mole removed and they cut this huge hole in my skin and I could see the muscle and everything underneath,” he said.
